He was predeceased by: his parents, Rush Peleg Whaley and Lena Lee Whaley (Jones); his wife Lois Jean Whaley; and his siblings, Rush Whaley, Clyde Whaley, Gerald Whaley, Maggie LeBlanc (Whaley), Catherine Hunter (Whaley), Estelle Holcombe (Whaley), Faye Martin (Whaley) and Irene Whaley.
He is survived by: his children, James A. Whaley (Tonya) of Pearland, Kenneth Whaley (Linda) of Houston, Donald Whaley (Kim) of Tyler and Lois Gore (Fred) of Waxahachie; and his grandchildren, Amy Whaley, Aleck Whaley (Aimee), Matthew Whaley (Tapley), Stephen Whaley (Christy), Darrell Whaley (Olivia), Lauren Hill (Stephen), Wesley Gore, Keenan Gore (Krista) and Mason Gore. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
