He was predeceased by : his parents, Eugene Strickland and Vera Leslie Pardue; his sisters, Estelle, Lorene, Carolyn and Shirley; and his daughters, Victoria Jones and Brenda Finfinger.

He is survived by : his children, Larry Strickland of San Antonio, Julie Strickland of San Antonio, William Strickland of San Antonio and Sandra Head of Pleasanton. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
