He was predeceased by: his parents, Verner William Laird and Mary Frances Johnson Laird; his son Lance Harlan Laird; his siblings, Verner William Laird II and Carole Ann Miller; his parents-in-law, Dr. Billy Bob and Jane Terrell; and his nephews, Slade Newman and Nathan Miller.

He is survived by: his wife Libby Terrell Laird; his daughters, Laci Laird (Tony Hairford) of Tyler and Lani Laird (Carey Blundell) of Kilgore; his grandson Cade Harlan Laird (Kelsey); his great grandchild London Lee Laird; his granddaughter Olivia Blundell; his siblings-in-law, Cheryl Patton Laird and Bill Terrell (Janie); and his sibling's children, William Terrell (Melissa), Andrew Terrell, Trey Laird (Alice), Dr. Clint Laird (Janna), Brent Newman (Juanita), Sam Miller and Mary Barnard.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church (815 E Main St, Kilgore, TX 75662). Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Presbyterian Church Kilgore for camps and conferences or scholarships.
