With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Kay Yates of Kilgore, Texas, born in Slaton, Texas, who passed away on December 25, 2022 at the age of 83. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Kay Yates to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Herbert Edward Jones and Alta Grace Harber (Robinson); and her stepfather Bill Harber. She is survived by : her great grandchild Kaykie; her husband Wilbur F. Yates; her daughters, Kara Yates Hood (Barry) of Lubbock and Kristin Ashley Marquardt (Danny) of Dallas; her grandchildren, Erin Hood Hawthorn (Forrest), Emily Hood Smith (Ian), Bryson Yates Marquardt and Gracie Kay Marquardt; her great grandchildren, Paxton June Smith, Luella Grace Hawthorn and Cooper Hood Smith; her brother Herbert "Bubba" Jones; and her sisters-in-law, Marsha Jones, Von Chamberlain and Faye Yates. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was active in Coterie Club, Garden Club and Bridge clubs for many years, and was an excellent bridge player right up until the pandemic in 2020.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Kilgore or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
