He was predeceased by : his father Jim Smires. He is survived by : his mother Kay Smires of Kilgore; his siblings, Mike Smires of Kilgore and Sissy Smires (Jim) of Kilgore; and his daughters, Quincee Smires, Hallie Smires and Kate Smires. He is also survived by cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends.

Memorial donations may be given in lieu of flowers to any organization whose mission statement is making a child in-need Christmas magical.
