He was predeceased by : his parents, Owen Spence and Ida Spence; his siblings, Daniel and Debra; his stepson Christopher Kristan; and his grandson Layne Kristan.

He is survived by : his wife Deborah Spence; his daughters, Amy Pavlicek (Tom) and Diana Spence; his stepchildren, Michelle Walkington (Matt), Glenn Kristan (Mary Anne) and Kimberly Harvalis (Jim); his grandchildren, Josh, Drew, Taylor, Jordan, Robert, Jesse, Chase, Alyssa, Julian, Tyler and Ignacio; his sister Brenda Spence Hucke; and his nieces, Lisa, Dawn and Chrissy.
