It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Merrell Slater of Kirbyville, Texas, born in Battle Creek, Michigan, who passed away on April 14, 2024, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by : his wife Jean Slater of Kirbyville; and his children, Shawn Slater, Heather Slater, Sunie Slater, Marry Thurle, Christal Thurle, Craig Thurle, Sonja, Elizabeth "Liz" Hays, Andy, Guy Jr. Thurle and Katherina.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vision Outreach Church (404 County Rd 3073, Kirbyville, TX 75956). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
