He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Dionicia Partida Villarreal and Vicente Avendaño; his wife Elsa Flores; and his children, Jesus A. Avendaño, San Juana Rodríguez (Armando), Laura Del Carmen Garza (Lauro), Dionicia Rodríguez (Roberto), María I. Vásquez (José Luis), Issis Mayra Flores (Eduardo), Rosa Isela Molina (George) and Patricia Cantú. He was also cherished by his 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
