He was predeceased by: his mother Sharon Sommers (Leierer); his wife Deborah Sue Sommers; his brother Timothy Michael Sommers; and his nephew Justin Blake Hart. He is survived by: his father Billy "Bill" Sommers (Carol); his children, Corey Gene Sommers (Courtney) and Amber Sue Russell (Anthony); his grandchildren, Harper Louise Sommers, Lyla Gaige Russell, Rue McKinley Russell, Aurora Cambry Russell and Witten James Russell; his close friend Bobby Skipworth; his sister Angella Sommers Hart; and his sibling's children, Travis Hart, Dillion Hart and Daurian Doriana Sommers.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 4th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lynch Funeral Service Chapel (4238 TX-34, Greenville, TX 75402). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Church of Royse City (816 W Church St, Royse City, TX 75189). A burial was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Burns Cemetery (12779 State Hwy 121, Trenton, TX 75490).
