He was predeceased by : his parents, Clifton Nieland and Louella Smith Nieland; his grandparents, Mary, Charles Nieland, Leon Smith and Bonnie Bell Askins Smith; his uncles, David Nieland and Paul Nieland; and his close friend James 'Jim Butler.

He is survived by : his child Jai Yen Yen; his wife Cindy Nieland; his stepsons, Taylor Loyd and Dayton Loyd; his brothers, Tom Nieland (Maureen Nieland) and Andy Nieland (Lashara Nieland); his nephew Zach Nieland (Melissa Nieland); his mother-in-law Fran Holland; his brother-in-law Frank Holland; his niece Heidi; his nephew Dayton; his sister-in-law Cheryl Fitzpatrick; his nephew Alec; and his niece Alyssa. He is also survived by children, many great nieces and nephews.
