She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Huitt and Ora Hamlin Huitt; her aunt Eva; her uncle Lloyd Arnold; her sisters, Darlene, Charlene and Brenda; her niece Pamela Kennedy; and her great-nephew Michael Chappell.
She is survived by: her husband Bert D. Matthies; her daughter Kristi; her grandchildren, Haley, Robert III and Vivaan; and her siblings, Eva Chappell (Buck), Ronnie Huitt, Roger Huitt and Rodney Huitt (Suzanne). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the Myers & Smith Funeral Home & Chapel (301 E 24th St, Big Spring, TX 79720). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Jewell Elaine Huitt Matthies, 72, of Lamesa, died Thursday, October 9, 2025 after a long fought hard battle from Parkinson, she is no longer suffering.
