He was predeceased by: his wife Elida Garza of Vazquez; and his parents, Santos Vazquez and Josefina Garza. He is survived by: his children, Laura Villarreal, Patricia Orozco, Linda Serna, Leticia Rodriguez, Gabriela Benavides, Juan Jose Vazquez Jr. and Adriana Siso. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
