Ramon Mendoza Jr. Obituary

Ramon Mendoza Jr., 82, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022. Mr. Mendoza was born in Laredo, Texas and was a lifelong resident. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from March 27, 1962 through March 26, 1964. He was duly awarded with the Marksman (Carbine) and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Mendoza was an active member of the Martin High School Band Association, Co-Leader of the Marriage Encounter Movement, in Laredo, Co-Leader of the Evening for Parents Movement, Lector and Catechist at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church as well as a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council #2304.

Ramon and his wife Zonia were also well known at all the dances as they were the first ones on the floor and the last ones to leave. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Anastacia Mendoza. Siblings, Reymundo Mendoza, Roberto Mendoza and Irma Solis. Son, Marcos Mendoza. He is survived by his loving wife, of 54 years of marriage, Zonia L. Mendoza. Daughters, Melissa (Melecio) Garcia and Marissa Mendoza. Grandchildren, Raymond John Mendoza, Marcos Vincent Mendoza, Katherine Leann Garcia, Ryan Seth Garcia, Randy James Garcia and Ryker Marcos Garcia.

Siblings, Olga Alicia Mendoza, Maria "Nena" Mendoza and Jose Luis Mendoza. Godchild, Cindy (Jesus) Espinoza. Also surviving him are nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. The Family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to Mr. Mendoza's caregiver, Marcos Vincent Mendoza. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 25, 2022 departing from the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Holy Mass was celebrated at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Committal services and interment followed at the Laredo City Cemetery - Veterans Section with full military honors and the presentation of the United States Flag, provided by the Laredo Veterans Honorguard.

PALLBEARERS WERE: Enrique Lozano, Melecio Garcia, Raymond John Mendoza, Ryan Seth Garcia, Jose Luis Mendoza, Marcos Vincent Mendoza, Randy James Garcia and Peter Tovar. HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Marissa Mendoza, Katherine Garcia, Cindy Espinoza, Randy James Garcia and Ryker Marcos Garcia.
