He was predeceased by : his parents, George William and Esther Elizabeth Maxey Davis; his former life partner Peggy Moody Davis; and his siblings, Claxton Davis and Annie Ruth McDonald.

He is survived by : his wife Sonoma Cheney Davis; his daughter Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Harkey (Thomas); his stepchildren, Samuel David Threadgill, Billy James Threadgill, Anthony Wayne Threadgill and Mitzie Marlene Almeida; and his grandchildren, Cody Jackson and Cayden Jackson.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (300 Jefferson St, Pittsburg, TX 75686). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at the Macedonia Cemetery.
