She was predeceased by : her parents, LaVerna Taylor and Raymond Taylor; her sister Mary Lou; her brother-in-law Joe Broom; and her cousin Doris Templin.

She is survived by : her husband Johnnie; her children, Mike Hirst of Leakey, Johnnie 'Jay Hirst, Jr. of Leakey and Amy Potter of Tennessee; and her grandchildren, Amanda, Sydni Potter of Tennessee and Ezekiel Hirst of Leakey. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
