He was predeceased by: his parents, José Nieto and Josefina Ramírez; and his significant other Yolanda Bustamante. He is survived by: his children, Jorge Nieto, Andrés Nieto, Patricia Nieto and Luz Nieto; and his sister Belén Nieto. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
