He is survived by: his brother Raymond Matthews (Mary Francis) of Houston; his nephew Chad Matthews (Renee) of Austin; his cousins, Judy, Cheryl, Susie, Rickey and Chuck; his grandchildren, Patric Murphy (Jenny), Christopher Murphy and Emma Burrows (Beau); his great grandchildren, Levi, Ava, Miller and Brett; his friend Anne Land; and also Kimmie Murphy (Shawn).
