He was predeceased by: his parents, Pedro Acosta and Encarnacion Acosta; his wife Guadalupe Ortiz Acosta; and his siblings, Natividad Reyna, Guadalupe Sierra, Edemencio, Julian and Alejandro Acosta.

He is survived by: his sisters, Andrea Garcia of Frisco, TX and Minerva Villareal of Lubbock, TX; and his children, Joe, Tony and Rosa. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
