He is survived by: his siblings, JD, Douglas, Billie and Dorrace; his wife Mary Lou Matheson; his children, Daryl Matheson Matheson (Bonnie), Richard Matheson (Jackie), David Matheson, Theresa Butkowski (Rick), Doug Matheson (Katina) and Stacy Cox (RC); and his grandchildren, Makenzi Matheson, Jordyn Matheson, Brandi Pate (Leslie), Taylor Anderson, Meghan Braquet (Blake), Hannah Matheson, Casey Muckelroy, Kelsie Crampton (Chase), Ryan Matheson (Lindsey), Faith Matheson, Rayleen Matheson, Dylan Matheson and Reagan Cox. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
