He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Wilma Oney; his children, Mike Oney (Gretchen), David Oney, Micheal Phillips (Teresa), Cindy Forbes (Jack) and Johnny Oney; his siblings, Alvin Oney (Pat) and Shirley George (Carl); his sister-in-law Sandra Oney; his grandchildren, Kyndall Dake (Shajuna, Jay Oney), Haley, Kyle Phillips (Chelsea, Bo Ford), Tiffany, Justin Oney, Emily Smith, Ian Terry, Kolton Phillips, Megan, Cody Forbes, Kyleigh Lopez (Francisco, Kolby Phillips), Liz Oney, Ashley Forbes and Warren Stanford; his great grandchildren, Izayah Phillips, Jaycee Oney, Hayden Ricks, Lindley Oney, Drake Phillips, Kellan Oney, Blake Terry, Ryleigh Phillips, Emory Phillips and Ricky Ford; his daughter Lauri Anne Gibson; his parents, A. M. Oney and Phoebe Oney; his daughter Christy Oney; and his brothers, Leon Oney and A. E. Oney. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.
