With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Alvis Copeland Sr. of Marshall, Texas, who passed away on November 2, 2025 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Copeland Jr. and Helen Hurd; his stepmother Ruth Lee Jordan-Copeland; and his mother-in-law Willie Mae Oliver. He is survived by: his child Alvis Copeland, Jr. (Kelli); his wife Sadie Mae Copeland; his children, Dedrich Copeland (Cynthia), Alfreda Copeland, Levita Jackson and Veronica Beasley (Chris); and his siblings, Fredrick Hurd, Frankie Walker, Sherel Hurd, Sandra Copeland, Jeane Watson (Alex), Pearlie Kirven (Otis), LaRue Jenkins (Clifford), Doris Copeland and Alice Copeland. He is also survived by his sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, and six very special nieces.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Downs Funeral Home (4608 Elysian Fields Rd, Marshall, TX 75672). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home (4608 Elysian Fields Rd, Marshall, TX 75672). A burial will be held on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 at the Dallas - Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
