He is survived by : his wife Dorothea Maye (Dot); his friend Rance Norton; his children, Dee Nichols (Ed Nichols) and Darrell Burns (Robert Dyer); his granddaughter Fallin Sykora (Dustin Sykora); his great grandchild Bobby; and also, Loclyn, Ledger and Landree.

Bobby Joe married Dorothea (Dot) Maye Mann (Née Cline) in 1974, whom he lost to Alzheimer's in 2010.
