With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jean Bowlin of Meridian, Texas, born in Douglas, Georgia, who passed away on December 14, 2020 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by : her former life partner Lloyd H. "Pete" Barnwell; her husband Lilburn L. Bowlin; her daughter Cherie Barnwell Farmer; her stepchildren, Dan Bowlin and Judy Whitten; and her parents, Willie R. Pope and Vicey Peterson Pope.
She is survived by : her brother Lonnie Hugh Pope of Griffin, GA; her children, Hal Barnwell (Joyce), Sage Barnwell (Cindy) of Douglas, GA, Pamela Griggs (Steve) of Greensboro, GA, Dr. Joy Perren (Ray) and Jenny Lott (David) of Douglas, GA; and her stepchildren, Ron Bowlin (Doris) of Meridian, TX, Becky Sims (Robert) of Dothan, AL and Mary Lastinger (Sammy) of Douglas, GA. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Due to COVID-19, Sims Funeral Home Inc. will require all guests and attendees to wear appropriate medical grade face-masks and maintain social distancing at all times while visiting our facility, and highly encouraged at our services outside of our facility.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity or to First Baptist Church Missions Program of Douglas, GA.
