He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Stewart and Virginia Stewart; his wife Norma Jean Stewart (Insmangen); his children, Dickey Joe Stewart, Eugenia Dianne Brandstetter, Janet Renea Boykin, Connie Lou Ostrander and Misty Marie Stewart; and his sister Phyllis Robinson.

He is survived by: his children, Carl Leon Stewart, Cindy Lee Glasco, Dana Dayle Hood and Theresa Lynn Gaddis. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
