He was predeceased by: his parents, Guadalupe Garza (Gonzalez) and Delfino Garza; his wife Delia H. Garza; and his siblings, Miguel Garza, Leocadia Garza, Frances Velasquez, Carlos Garza, Carmen Muniz, Manuel Garza, Dolores Herrera and Roberto Garza.
He is survived by: his children, Juanita Garza Costilla (Jaime), Leonardo Garza, Jr. (Yvette), Guillermo Garza, Roy Garza (Rubi), Manuel Garza and Raquel Garza Cruz. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
