He is survived by : his son Jeff; his daughter-in-law Christy Fortner of Aledo, Texas; his daughter Amy Fortner of Mount Pleasant, Texas; his grandchildren, Austin, Hannah Fortner, Alivia Newman, Andrue Newman, Jeremy Fortner, Jacob Fortner and Jude Fortner; his great grandchild Anabella Fortner; his brother Jackie; his sister-in-law Ruth Ann Fortner; his sister Doris Jo; and his siblings-in-law, Tommy Shelley, Joey and Janice Mayfield.
