He was predeceased by : his parents, Leo and Annie (Cruz); and his siblings, Roseana Chavez, Josie Ovalle, Roberto Chavez, Simon Chavez, Cecilio Chavez and Rosendo Chavez.
He is survived by : his wife Olga Melendez; his children, Cecil Chavez of Muleshoe, Leroy Chavez of Alice, Fred Chavez (Maria) of El Paso, Texas and Gloria Chavez Agundiz of Muleshoe, Texas; and his siblings, Beatriz Campos of Muleshoe, Barbara Fuentes (Niño) of Texico, Roseana Gloria (Ruben) of Muleshoe, Rachel Lopez (Mike) of Lubbock, Texas, Juan Chavez (Sandy) of Muleshoe and Benny Chavez (Rosalinda) of Muleshoe, Texas. He is also survived by his fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
