He was predeceased by : his parents, Homer Clinton Hawes (HC) and Wanda Ruth Hawes (Taylor); his son Jay Gill Hawes; his brothers, James F. Hawes and Rex A. Hawes; and his mother-in-law Elenora Dickens (Scout).

He is survived by : his wife Carolyn Hawes; his sons, Clint Hawes (Marlane) and Clay Hawes (Rebecca); his grandchildren, Hunter Hawes and Shelby Hawes; his pet Rosco; and his sister-in-law Louise Hawes. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
