He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Wingate (Shorty) and Stella Wingate; his wife Dorothy Juanita Self; his children, Dale, David Wingate and Gayla Chandler; his son-in-law Roger McBride; his siblings, John Wingate, Leon Wingate and Beuna Mae Hill; his half-brothers, Robert Greer and Clyde Greer; his former wife Clelon Hayden; and his stepson Morlese Hayden.
He is survived by: his children, Gene Wingate (Ruth), Bill Wingate (Rusty), Mary Bronsell, Cindy McBride (Roger) and Marie Wingate. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
