It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elma Quintela Mendez of Nederland, Texas, born in Port Arthur, Texas, who passed away on May 4, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Quintela and Fidelia Garza Quintela; her siblings, Fidelia Quintela, Zenon, Uvaldo and Frank Quintela, Jr.; and her grandson Tim Mack.
She is survived by: her husband Gustavo Mendez, Jr. of Nederland; her children, Liz Mendez Kroesch (Dan) of Nederland, Mary Frances Howe of Beaumont, Eric Mendez (Valencia) of Beaumont and Greg Mendez (Cheryl) of Katy; her grandchildren, Cody Mendez (Margarita), Austin Mendez (Ayana), Brock Howe, Laurel Kroesch, Albert Williams, Sherlyse Ilovhogie (Onome) and Amy Williams; her great grandchildren, Mia and Vida Mendez; and her caregivers, Irene Berg, Tina Wycoff and Annette Spencer. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
