He was predeceased by : his parents, Halley Scheer and Martha Scheer; his former life partner Elfriede Scheer; his daughter Michelle Scheer; and his siblings, Celia Scheer and David Scheer.

He is survived by : his wife Dr. Mary Scheer; his children, Christopher Scheer (Marisol) and Kathryne West (Russell); his stepchildren, Michael Valentine, Barbara Baldwin, Rick Valentine, Sara Kelley and Christopher Kelley; his grandchildren, Kimberly Valentine, Elise Bogucki (Nicholas), Angelica Scheer, Richard A. Scheer and Shor Kelley; and his great grandchildren, Mina Bogucki and Clara Bogucki.
