Virgil Martel Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Virgil Martel of Nome, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 7, 2025 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Agatha Jannise Martel and Grady Martel, Sr.; and his former wife Geraldine Martel. He is survived by: his brother Raymond Martel; his wife Loretta Fay Martel; his brother Tommy Martel (Sherry) of Nome; his children, Gary Martel (Susie) of Moody, Rodney Martel (Lori) of Nome, David Martel (Sheryl) of Mason, Michelle Stephens (Scott) of Conroe and Kerri Hebert of Lumberton; his grandchildren, Kendal Martel, Kayla Mary (Adam), Erika Nielsen (Matt), Ranson Martel (Kami), Remi Martel (Laura), Lacey Fregia (Bryan), Morgan Martel, Taylor Monse (Rebecca), Kevin Martel (Victoria), Ally Yonker (Justin), Andrew Martel (Breana), Hannah Burks (Michael), Grant Stephens, Colton Stephens (Abby), Brayden Hebert and Peyton Swearingen; and his children, Chowboys of Montgomery County and Donald-Land-The. He is also survived by 29 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church (245 US-90, China, TX 77613). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
