She was predeceased by : her parents, Sherman Hightower and Opal Hightower. She is survived by : her husband Demetrios Basdekas; her children, Lexy Kessler (Iver) and Leon Basdekas (Peggy); her grandchildren, Eleni, Tyler Kessler, Neil and Katie Basdekas; and her siblings, Elizabeth Thompson (Hugh) and Bill Hightower (Virginia).
The family requests in lieu of flowers to make a donation in Rita's memory to March of Dimes or Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
