He was predeceased by : his parents, Buel Dorman McWhorter and Mary Lillian McWhorter (Martin); and his sisters, Ella M. Lewis, Geraldine "Gerri" Hoppe, Louise Redmon, Opal "Zytte" Ferguson and Bobbie Ann Souther.
He is survived by : his wife Shiela Grisham McWhorter; his brother David McWhorter (Diane); his sons, Thomas McWhorter (Mellisa) and William Buel McWhorter; his grandchildren, Callie, Tripp, Jamie, Rian and Brodie; and his friend Ette Pearl Rush. He is also survived by one great-grandchild on-the-way; numerous nieces and nephews.
