It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joe Lara Ortega of Odessa, Texas, born in Pecos, Texas, who passed away on January 12, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, David Ortega and Martina Lara Ortega; and his brothers, Carlos Ortega, Luis Ortega, David Ortega, Jr., Jesus Ortega and Henry Ortega.

He is survived by: his wife Rosa Rodriguez Ortega; his children, Joe, Roman, Gabriel, Freddie Ortega, Yolanda Monroe and Sara Chavez (Gabriel); and his sisters, Teresa Campos, Betty Rodriguez and Maria Elena Olivas. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers, the family wishes you to consider a memorial donation to St. Mary's Catholic School in his memory.
