He is survived by : his close friend Helen Jean Pundt Nelson; his wife Helen Jean; his children, Belinda Pace (Clay), Jim Jr. (Susan), Richard (Kristy) and Daniel Nelson (Julie); his sisters, Alice Rollings and Lily Harris; his siblings-in-law, Hubert Harris, Terry Otwell, Arnold Smith, Bryan Pundt and Linda Nelson; and his grandchildren, Jamie Pace, Jennifer McCoy (Josh), Melissa Uballe (Julian), Brandon Nelson, Zachary Nelson, Hayden Nelson, Brigham Nelson, Callie Nelson, Zachary Baldwin (Randi) and Derek Baldwin (Nikki).
