He was predeceased by : his parents, Carl Bloomer and Alma Bloomer; and his wife Cheryl Linda Bloomer (McCord). He is survived by : his children, Jean Dormier, Cynthia Vandivort, Doug Bloomer (Tammie Bloomer) and Greg Bloomer (Diana Bloomer); his grandchildren, Johnathan, Justin, Alyson, Reid, Katie Claire, Victoria, Jacquelynn, Albert and Nicholas; and his brother Robert Bloomer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks a donation to be made in James Edward Bloomer's name to the American Stroke Association.
