It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Lou Nelson of Portland, Texas, who passed away on February 1, 2022, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Guy Hartgraves and Wyma Hartgraves; her former life partner Alfred L. Nelson (Al); and her son Sam. She is survived by : her daughter-in-law Nancy Nelson of Kingsville; her grandson Travis Nelson (Laura); her great grandchildren, Samuel, Adeline and Eloise of Corpus Christi; her granddaughter Katie Nelson of San Antonio; and her husband Al Nelson. She is also survived by her children and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mary's name to be made to First United Methodist Church of Portland, or a charity of your choice.

“My deepest condolences to Mary's entire family. I was heartbroken when I heard. I'm just so sad and sorry I wasn't with her after caring for her these past months.
