He was predeceased by : his parents, Venice Lee Dyess and Zora Lee Simpson Dyess; and his siblings, Paul Dyess, John David Dyess, Patsy Jane Martin, Ethel Lee Grimes and Margie Nell Morris.

He is survived by : his wife Reta Kennedy Dyess; his children, Kenny Dyess (Kim) of Jacksonville, Cathy Newman (Rodney) of Rusk and Terrie Sadler (Randy) of Gallatin; his grandchildren, Jody Dyess (Bonnie), Jennifer Tyler (Kenny), Jordan Dyess, Allison Rawlinson (Brayden), Nick Cowan (Jeannette), Katy Woods (Jared), James Newman (Tara), Jacob Newman (Heidi), Casey Newman, Amanda Scott (Hayden), Meagan Shuptrine (Brock), Forrest Jones (Megan), Garret Jones, Jory Sadler (April), Caleb Sadler (Hannah), Nikita Sadler and Raysha Watson (Jeremy); his great grandchildren, Anna, Hayden, Karen, Eli Dyess, Landon, Lilly Tyler, Palmer Dyess, Sunni, Baker Rawlinson, Remi, Zella, Rossi Cowan, Torsten, Torvi Woods, Grayson, Julianne, Rhett, Colt Newman, Ty, Tenley, Tripp Newman, Analeigha, Easton, Dawson Shuptrine, LynnLee, Honey, River Jones, Hunter, Lindsey, Cameron Sadler, Macy, Demi Sadler, Aiden and Jaxson Watson; his siblings, R. S. Dyess and Martha Ann; and his siblings-in-law, Joe Parsley, Mary Dyess and Freddie Morris. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
