It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Raye Allen Conaway Sr. in San Angelo, Texas, born in Colorado City, Texas, who passed away on January 14, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Otha Conaway and Alberta Conaway; his wife Jackie Conaway; and his siblings, Dorothy Blakeney and Thomas Conaway.

He is survived by: his children, Stewart Conaway of Centennial, CO, John Conaway of San Angelo, TX and Raye Conaway Jr. of San Angelo, TX; and his twin-sister Faye Dickson. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the San Angelo Food Bank, Concho Hearts Hospice, or any charity of your choice.

“We were sadden to hear the news of the passing of Raye Conaway. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Raye worked over 15 years as a police officer with the University Police Department and retired with full honors in June of 2008. Raye dedicated his life to service and did so in a professional, caring and kind manner. Raye touched the lives of many and will be forever remembered and missed. Angelo State University Police Department”
