He was predeceased by: his parents, Billy Joe Bates and Ida Gaye Bates; and his sister Brenda Gaye King. He is survived by: his friend Harv; his brother-in-law Wayne King; his nieces, Kristen Gutierrez (Greg), Stephanie Funkhouser (Spencer) and Lauren King; his adoptive father Roy Albrecht; and also, Beverly Albrecht, Madison, Zachary and McKenna.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 6th 2024 at 11:00 AM and at 12:00 PM at the Colonial Hills United Methodist Church (5247 Vance Jackson Rd, San Antonio, TX 78230).
