He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Stofa and Esther Emily Stofa; and his sister Susan Anderson. He is survived by: his wife Elsa N. Stofa; his son Robert Stofa; his siblings, Michael (Anna), Jonny Stofa and Cathy Donovan; his stepmother Dorothy Ramsey Stofa of Rockport, Massachusetts; his siblings' children, Michelle Stofa of Dallas, Kelly Donovan of Blairstown, Taylor Anderson, Brittney Anderson of Rockport Massachusetts, Michael Stofa IV of San Antonio and Tom Donovan of Blairstown; and his cousin Jane Condon of Metuchen.
