Elvira (Dominguez) Mata Obituary
Elvira Mata, age 91, went to be with our Lord on October 11, 2021 surrounded by her devoted children. Elvira was loved by many because of her beautiful and caring ways. She never hesitated to give anyone or any animal a helping hand. She was a nurturer who always had a smile on her face and was slow to anger.
Throughout her life, she had several unique pets. Her parrot, JoJo, was one of the many pet loves of her life as well as Howard and Pinky, her ducks. She had many birds, cats and dogs throughout her lifetime. She could easily nurse an ill animal back to a healthy condition. Her love of animals exemplifies the goodness that always seemed to radiate from her heart.
Elvira’s lack of formal education did not deter her from supplementing her husband’s income. She took in babysitting, ironing and even sold tacos to workers in the community. She was definitely innovative for her time when it came to making money. She did what she could and was always admired for her determination.
Elvira is preceded in death by her husband, Doroteo Mata, her father Raphael Dominguez, childhood guardians, Inez and Ambrosio Cortez, and half-brothers, Victor and Henry Dominguez.
She is survived by her brother, Arturo Dominguez, cousin, Enrique Cortez, daughter, Mary Alice Mata, son, Mike Mata and wife, Tina, grandchildren Elizabeth Mata (Mark Cabello), Alexus Mata (Nathan Torres) and Rebecca Reyes, great-granddaughter, Annabella Herrin, and beloved pet, Rocky.
She leaves behind many friends that she had for decades, and numerous cousins who loved her dearly.
Eternal rest grant unto our dear Elvira, and may perpetual light shine upon her!
