He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen P. Flynn and Eugene W. Toifl; his wife Shirley Ann Clem Toifl; his former wife Joyce VanDeWalle; his children, Philip E. Toifl and Mary Ann Ramirez; and his grandson Nathan Ramirez.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Helen McDonald (Randy) and Sam D. Toifl. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Angelus Chapel (1119 N St Mary's St, San Antonio, TX 78215). The military honors will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209). A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Concordia Lutheran Church (16801 Huebner Rd, San Antonio, TX 78258).
