Florian S. Aicher, Jr. Obituary

Florian "Bud" Aicher, Jr., known as Big Truck to his grandchildren, went home to be with the Lord on December 6, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. Bud was born on January 2, 1943 in Easton, PA to Florian Aicher, Sr. and Esther Marion Musselman. At age 18, Bud joined the Air Force and served as a training instructor and air transportation specialist.

He was married in 1964 to his wife of 53 years, Sheryl D"Ann Byers, and became a father to Mary, Melissa, and Jason. He relocated to San Antonio, Texas in 1972, and became a truck driver. Driving cross-country turned him into a living roadmap who could tell you how to get from point A to point B in the most efficient way, naming landmarks and billboards you might see along your travels.

He made many friends on his routes, and witnessed to those he met the plan of Salvation. As a husband and father, Bud gave his all. He taught his kids and grandkids how to hit baseballs, how to drive, how to keep flies out of the house, and how to find joy in any situation. He loved Nascar and restored a Chevy 1941 Coupe Sedan with his son-in-law, Curtis.

As a grandfather, he would also excel. He made time to play checkers and attend sports games, and would always make himself available to talk. He could make a mean breakfast, and had a smile and a laugh that would light up a room. He made everyone he met feel like family, including neighbors and the broader community. He is survived by his wife, D"Ann, his sister, Gloria, husband Paul Robison, his two daughters, Mary, husband Curtis Wilson, and Melissa, husband Donald Krock, his son, Jason, wife Wendy Leschber, his seven granddaughters, Stephanie, Sheryl, Bethany, Amanda, husband Justin Anaya, Ashlee, Emily, and Alyssa, and his great-granddaughter, Rylynn Grace.

He also leaves behind three granddogs, Maia, Helo, and Wesley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Sanctuary of Hope (https://www.jhm.org) or a charity of your choosing. Bud enjoyed scratch-offs and faithfully played the Lotto, and though he never won, the people who knew him will agree that they were the lucky ones as he enriched their lives.

Services will be held at Cornerstone Church on December 21, 2017 at 9:45am. Interment will take place at Fort Sam Houston at 11:15am. .
