He was predeceased by: his wife Merle Callaway Mitchell; his parents, John Elwood and Lola Mitchell; his sister Patti; and his brother-in-law Jack Obets.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Lewis (Roy) and David Mitchell (Carol); his grandchildren, John, Chad (Jessica), Tyler Mitchell, Shane (Alejandra), Jason (Sydney) and Ryan Lewis (Dominique); his great grandchildren, Layton, Lola Mitchell, Natalie, Kacey, Cody, Liam and Thomas Lewis; and his brother Edgar Wayne Mitchell (Suzy) of Surfside, TX. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Mission Park Funeral Chapels and Cemetery (20900 I-10, San Antonio, TX 78257). A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
