She was predeceased by: her husband Herbert "Bear" Holmes of Year's Eve; her daughters, Diane and Cynthia Holmes; her brother John M. Short; her niece Susan Palmer; and her parents, John O. Short and Harriet R. Short.
She is survived by: her son Dr. Peter Holmes; her daughter-in-law Susan Holmes; her nieces, Nancy Ross, Leslie Skibitsky and Judy Pryor; her grandchildren, Dr. Pamela Holmes (Scott Herrick), Amanda Holmes-Davidian (Kelly Kell) and Daniel Holmes (Andrea Holmes); and her great grandchildren, Melody, Clara, Forrest, James and Samantha.
