She was predeceased by : her parents, Dora McDougald and C. R. McDougald; her brother Tommy McDougald; and her sister-in-law Barbara McDougald. She is survived by : her husband Dennis Gates; her nephews, Troy McDougald and Skip McDougald; her stepchildren, Joel Gates (Stacey) and Leah Robertson; and her stepgranddaughters, Emily Copeland (Jeremy) and Kaylee Robertson.
