He was predeceased by: his parents, Modesto Ortega Sr. and Josefa Ortega (Rosa Deleon Ortega); his brother George Ortega; and his grandsons, Joe Anthony Ortega and Ethan William Duncan.
He is survived by: his children, Carlos De Leon, Modesto Ortega III, Josefa Deleon Ortega and Laura Lee D. Ortega; his siblings, Alex Vasquez, Raymond Ortega and Estella Ortega; his grandchildren, Regina Ortega, Miranda Rose Ortega, Modesto Ortega IV, Gauge London De Leon, Clarissa Ortega, Vivian Ortega, Vanessa Inez Ortega, John Andrew Ortega, Luke Spencer De Leon, Ruby Rose Ortega and Esmeralda Marie Ortega; and his great grandchildren, Nyla Rose Womack Ortega, Modesto Ortega V, Ziya Renee Womack Ortega and Aaliyah Rose Ortega. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, family members and friends.
