It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nuggie Mae Woods in San Antonio, Texas, who passed away on July 21, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, L. E. Merritt and Nuggie Proby (Beatrice); her children, Otis Vernell Woods, Sharon Renae Parsons and Charles Eck Woods; and her sisters, Lula Easter, Evelyn Proby-Randle and Verna Burns.
She is survived by: her children, Sherly Lemelle, Slyvia Martin, Marsha Collins, Olivia Woods of Amarillo, TX, Victoria Woods of Vernon, TX, George Collins of Amarillo, TX, Elston Woods, Michael Woods of Quanah, TX and Marvin Woods of Kentucky; and her sister Sandra Morris of Amarillo, TX.. She is also survived by 141 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Viewing was held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church (3100 Angelus Dr, Amarillo, TX 79107). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
